Former Black Starlets midfielder, Emmanuel Toku has been axed from the final squad submitted to the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to represent Ghana in the U-20 Africa Cup of Nations tournament which starts on Saturday, February 2.
Toku, who was an integral part of the Black Satellite team throughout the AFCON qualifies, was conspicuously missing from Ghana’s squad which was released by the CAF today.
The diminutive midfielder who plays for Cheetah FC, a team based In Accra is remembered for his dribbling prowess for the national U-17 side when they played in the Africa Cup of Nations in Gabon and the World Cup in India in 2018.
His omissions comes as a surprise because Toku scored two goals for the Black Satellites when they played in the WAFU Zone B U-20 championship in December 2018, where Ghana got eliminated at the group stage.
Coach Jimmy Cobblah’s team will begin their AFCON campaign by playing Burkina Faso on February 3, Mali and Senegal in the second and third Group B games respectively.
