THE Balaji Group of Companies (BGC) Cricket Club will meet Salt and Paper Cricket Club in the final of the India Community Cricket Tournament on Sunday at the Achimota Cricket Oval.
Balaji beat MMG by six runs in the semi-final last Sunday at the Oval to book their place in the final, before Salt and Paper saw off CSK to also reach the final.
The eight-team tournament, which began on November 24, saw some thrilling encounters and exciting batting and bowling among the Indian community in the country.
Ghana-based Indian cricket enthusiast, Akoliyah Patel, who is the brain behind the competition, told the Daily Graphic that the event was to engender a sense of community and togetherness among the Indian community in Ghana.
“We also want to have fun, socialise and network among ourselves while creating awareness of the sport and supporting the Ghana Cricket Association to grow and develop the game,” he stated.
He stressed that the Indian community in Ghana was ready to contribute its quota to support cricket in Ghana to become a giant.
Mr Patel appealed to corporate entities to support the game and the competition in particular to sustain the sport in the country.
