Nigeria got their 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign back on track as they eased to a 3-0 away win over the Seychelles at Stade Linite in Victoria on Saturday afternoon.

The victory handed the Super Eagles their first three points in Group E, while the Pirates of Seychelles remain bottom of the standings after a second successive defeat.

Nigeria, who exited from the group stages at the 2018 World Cup, dominated from the kick-off and claimed the lead on the 15th minute through Ahmed Musa.

He sent a left-footed volley toward goal, but the ball rebounded off the lower side of the crossbar before bouncing off the body of Seychelles goalkeeper Dave Mussard to go into the net.

The Super Eagles doubled their lead on the 34 minute, when Chidozie Awaziem directed a shot into an empty net after Kelechi Iheanacho’s initial effort from a free kick rebounded off the post and left Mussard with no chance to recover.

Odion Ighalo added a third 12 minutes into the second half, to put his name on the score sheet, converting a penalty which was won by Samuel Kalu to seal the Super Eagles win.

Seychelles had only one real chance to pull a goal back, with a long punt catching the Nigerian defence square and allowing Perry Monnaie to run onto the ball, but he sent his effort wide of the target in the 63rd minute.

Libya hold South Africa

Visiting Libya held South Africa to a goalless draw game in their encounter  at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban also Saturday afternoon.

The Libyans were unlucky not to have won the match as they created more chances and had the South Africans at their mercy for a greater part of the game.

The draw saw Bafana Bafana remain second on the Group E standings, with Libya still at the top of thegroup standings.

The teams will return to Afcon qualifying action in October, with Nigeria at home to Libya and the Seychelles away to South Africa.
