Portuguese second tier side Académica de Coimbra have announced the signing of Ghanaian winger Barnes Osei on a one year deal with an option for extension at the end of the season.
“Extreme Ghanaian Barnes Osei is the new reinforcement of academic. The Player, formerly of Paços de Ferreira, signed this Friday and immediately joins the squad in the preparation for the new season,” a statement on the club’s Facebook account read.
“Barnes Osei was one of the players in the pacense team last season, having contributed significantly to the rise in division. Welcome to coimbra and magical briosa, Barnes! #Bemvindobarnesosei,” it added.
The former Ghana Under-20 player featured 20 times last season for Pacos and netted three goals as they booked their ticket for the topflight.
Barnes, 24, also previously played for Uniao da Madeira and Arouca.
The Associação Académica de Coimbra – Organismo Autónomo de Futebol, also referred to as Académica de Coimbra or simply Académica, is an autonomous and professional football organisation based in Coimbra, Portugal.
The club was created in 1887, when Clube Atlético de Coimbra and Academia Dramática merged.
