Elvis Kyei-Baffour and Alhassan Mubarak scored in either halves to earn Liberty Professionals a 2-1 win over WAFA in the ongoing Ghana Premier League (GPL) at the Redbull Arena at Sogakope.
Liberty scored the opener through a spot-kick by Elvis Kyei Baffour in the 28th minute after WAFA captain Abukari Ibrahim, fouled Baffour in the penalty box.
WAFA after conceding took control of the game but their dominance could’t fetch them an immediate equaliser.
It took the effort of Samson Agyepong to equalise for the home team in the 71st minute when he curled the ball into the left-hand side of the net following a well-worked move from WAFA.
WAFA was not able to hold on unto their composure for long when Liberty’s Alhassan Mubarak netted the winner after tapping home from a rebound.
The Sogakope-based club could have got a point of the match in the dying minutes as Michael Ampadu’s excellent thunderbolt came off the side post.
Liberty Professionals are now unbeaten on the road with two away wins and one draw and their first ever win in Sogakope.
For WAFA SC, it is their first defeat at home since 21 January, 2015 when they lost 1-0 to AshantiGold.
