EX-ELEPHANT captain Didier Drogba has hinted at contesting for the President of the Ivorian Football Federation (FIF) which becomes vacant by the end of February.
Besides Drogba, Deputy President of FIF, Sory Diabate, is also expected to contest for the enviable position as he is regarded as the preferred candidate for Diallo, as well as the executive committee.
Drogba has already announced his candidature and has been engaging stakeholders in series of consultative meetings to market himself about his mission and vision if he was offered the opportunity
The incumbent, Augustin Sidy Diallo who had been in the saddle since assuming office in 2011 is not likely to seek re-election for the third time.
Diallo, together with his officers’ term of office ends on February 19, but according to the federation's constitution, the next elections can be held between February 20 this year and June 30, 2021.
His absence offers Drogba an opportunity of building another career as a football administrator in his home country.
