There were no champions crowned in the men’s event of the Sapholda Hockey gala as poor visibility left the final game between defending champions, Exchequers and Royal Men of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) inconclusive after both sides declined to be part of an arrangement to decide on the winners.

The two sides fought  tooth and nail for the trophy at stake when they met at the grand finale, but with no chance to play under floodlight, either side was denied the chance to annex the trophy at a time they had tied   0-0 draw at the end of  regulation time.

The poor visibility was as a result of power failure which made it impossible to switch on the floodlights, so organisers of the gala competition decided  to separate the two teams by either evoking the penalty strokes or the toss of  a coin to enable them present the trophy at stake to one of them, but the two teams refused to participate in any of the two alternatives.

The two teams maintained that what was at stake was very important, hence the need for the organisers to rather fix a new date for them to play, but the organisers refused to comply.

In the end, no champion was declared for the male division, considered the most attractive where fans were eager to see one  the teams to emerge winner of the 2019 gala champion.
