Benin forward, Mickael Pote, became the first player to score a brace at the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) and went on top of the top scorers' chart as the Squirrels held Ghana's Black Stars 2-2 at the Ismailia Stadium in Egypt on Tuesday.
Pote opened the scoring for Benin after two minutes after collecting a pass and firing a low shot into the middle of the net in what became the fastest goal of the tournament.
The 34-year-old Adana Demirspor striker earned a point for his side when he finished off a sublime move with a delightful back-heel goal.
Ghana scored the equalising goal and took the lead in the first half through goals by Andre Ayew and Jordan Ayew, after Pote’s second minute strike had given the Beninese an early lead.
The Squirrels forward leads the AFCON top scorers' chart after the opening games and will have the chance to view for the award at the end of the competition.
