The tournament which was organised by the 2006 Old Boys Association of Accra Academy was to celebrate the life of LT Felix Tei Sormenah, a military officer, who was engaged in a training exercise in Aburi, when the tragic incident occurred.

Presenting the trophy to the winners, brother of the late LT. Ftei Sormenah, Derrick Sormenah, expressed gratitude to Bleoo 2006 association for their immense show of love in memory of his late brother.

In an interview with the Graphic Sports Online, Sormenah lauded the initiative of the president of Bleoo 2006 year group, Nii Sekoh Abbey-Ashong, for his decision to make the tournament an annual one in order to immortalize the memory of their late colleague.

For his part, Mr Abbey-Ashong, praised the late Sormenah for his immense contribution to sport during their time at Accra Academy and noted that it was befitting to stage a tournament in his honour after his unfortunate demise.

“Our departed colleague was an avid sport man and member of the handball team during our time in school. It is only befitting that we stage this tournament to honour his memory as well as build the camaraderie and Bleoo spirit that exists among all current and former students of Accra Academy. We plan to expand the tournament and include even more year groups as well as offer more prizes” he said.

Winners of the Bleoo 2006 annual Fantasy Premiere League competition were also honoured on the day with mouth-watering prizes including a year’s supply of Cowbell products, MTN mifi, Laptop bags among others.
