Irate youth vandalise Pakyi No2 chief’s palace
Disgruntled youth of Pakyi No 2 in the Atwima Kwanwoma District last Saturday went on rampage and vandalised the chief’s palace.

The youth, who were said to be opposed to the chief, Nana Kyei Asiamah Aduakwa II, allegedly took that action in an attempt to prevent him from celebrating Akwasidae the following day.
The incident, which occurred around 7:30 p.m. last Saturday saw the youth breaking louvres , tables, chairs and doors.
15 youth arrested
The timely intervention of the police averted a possible clash between the youth and some supporters of the chief who had also come to the scene.
However, by the time the police got to the scene, most of the perpetrators had escaped.
The police, however, managed to arrest 15 youth, including eight women, suspected to have been involved in the attack.
Briefing the Daily Graphic, the Deputy Ashanti Regional Public Relations Officer of the Ghana Police, Inspector Godwin Ahianyo, said around 7 p.m. last Saturday, the police had information that some people had attacked the chief’s palace.
Quickly, he said a team was dispatched quickly to the area and “when we got there, we saw that the palace had been vandalised with human excreta scattered all over the place.”
He said most of the youth had run away “but we [have] managed to pick up some of them.”
The suspects have since been sent to the Asokwa Divisional Command in Kumasi, where they are being processed for court.
Nana Aduakwa was installed early last year after the seat had been vacant for more than 20 years.
