The late DCE was shot dead by an unknown gunman at the forecourt of his official residence at about 8 p.m. when he was alighting from his vehicle after he got back from town.

His elder brother, Boye Kenyensu, who reportedly died at the Nkwanta hospital on November 8 as a result of the shock he suffered following the news of the death of his brother, had since been buried at his hometown, Keri, also in the Nkwanta South district.

Speaking to the Daily Graphic, the Volta Regional Minister, Ms Helen Adjoa Ntoso, said the body would be conveyed from the 37 Military Hospital in Accra on Friday, January 23 for  the funeral and burial at Nkwanta.

The late Mr Kenyensu was survived by a wife and three children.

Meanwhile, the police have arrested and are investigating 10 suspects in connection with the gruesome murder.

A press release issued by the Nkwanta South wing of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has condemned the barbaric and cowardly act in no uncertain terms and stated that the act belonged to the stone age but not to the 21st century.

The release commended the security services for the swift manner in which personnel were dispatched from the region and other parts of the country to assist their colleagues in Nkwanta to protect life and property, thereby averting a chaotic situation after the assassination of the DCE.

In the release, which was signed by a party executive, Mr John Kennedy Apegyah, the NDC  extended thanks to the party’s rank and file for exercising extreme caution and restraint even in the face of provocation by not reacting violently but choosing to mourn and sympathise with the bereaved family.
