Victory Presby to host Victory Praise

The Victory Congregation of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana is set to stage this year’s edition of their Victory Praise concert on Sunday, August 27, 2017 at Victory Presbyterian Chapel, Adenta-Fafraha.

The purpose of this 4 pm event is to testify of and present Jesus Christ to patrons through music and drama.

Inspector Bediako joins GMB as judge

Veteran actor Oscar Provencal popularly known as Inspector Bediako has joined the long serving judge on Ghana’s Most Beautiful (GMB), Mrs Limda Ampah for this year’s season.

The announcement was made at the grand launch of GMB 2017 at the Bukom Boxing Arena in Accra last Sunday.

Submissions for the maiden CLIQ Awards which aims at recognising professional excellence in the photography and videography ends on Monday, August 28.

Alliance Francaise hosts ‘Dance The Time’

A contemporary dance piece that illustrates and addresses social and hierarchical complexity in the Ghanaian society,  will be performed on Friday, August 25 at the Alliance Francaise in Accra.

Titled ‘Dance The Time’, the production is the result of a three-day workshop  for contemporary dancers led by Felix Ofosu Dompreh of Kuyum Arts Investigation in Accra.

African Legends Night on Sept. 30

This year’s African Legends Night concert comes off at the Banquent hall of the State House on September 30.

The sixth in the series, this year’s event is special. It perfectly ties into the marking of Ghana’s 60th independence anniversary celebrations.

Music fans who cherish the reggae component generally referred to as ‘lovers rock’ will have a lot to get excited about when the United Kingdom-based, world-renowned reggae artiste, John McLean, performs on Saturday, August 19 at the +233 Jazz Bar & Grill in Accra.

Dubbed ‘Reggae Fever - A Night of True Lovers Rock,’ the 9.00pm concert will also feature Knii Lante. Both acts will be supported by the Big Hills Band.

National Symphony Orchestra, Edem to light up Franklin Lodge

As a way to preserve Franklin Lodge, a small slave fort turned communal place on Brazil Lane in James Town, Accra, the Jamestown Café and Archiafrika will on Saturday August 19 organise a musical festival to carry on music tradition of the place.

Artistes billed to perform are the National Symphony Orchestra, Edem, Oblaa Hi brass band, Nene Narh, Anna Hoffman, Ato and Brenda and Ato Kwamina .

Zion Healer, a Ghanaian Reggae artiste last Thursday premiered the video of his song titled: “Tribute”, in memory of South Africa’s Reggae King, Lucky Dube, and other heroes who were killed on the forefront of liberation. 

The song, which is a cover of Lucky Dube’s Song titled “Crazy World” projects the impunity of how heroes who worked to bring change in the society were assassinated. It was premiered on August 3 to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the icon’s death.
