John McLean in town for ‘lovers rock’ show

Music fans who cherish the reggae component generally referred to as ‘lovers rock’ will have a lot to get excited about when the United Kingdom-based, world-renowned reggae artiste, John McLean, performs on Saturday, August 19 at the +233 Jazz Bar & Grill in Accra.

Dubbed ‘Reggae Fever - A Night of True Lovers Rock,’ the 9.00pm concert will also feature Knii Lante. Both acts will be supported by the Big Hills Band.

John Mclean has been recording since the 1980s. Apart from recording three successful albums: 'Bowled Over,' 'Men Are Lovers Too' and 'Ceasefire’, he also has a string of hit singles including 'Truly Bowled Over', 'Say You' and the undisputed biggest ‘lovers rock’ single of 1987, 'If I Give My Heart To You.'

McLean has been busy over the last few days rehearsing with the Big Hills Band in Dansoman, Accra. He is bubbling with excitement over the upcoming concert, saying it would be an unforgettable night of pleasant reggae.

The man is widely travelled and has worked alongside some of reggae’s premier reggae icons and musicians including Sly and Robbie, Dean Fraser, Ken Booth, Dennis Brown, Maxi Priest and Freddie McGregor.

“He is a multiple award-winner with a captivating stage presence and I trust patrons will have a jolly good time with him on Saturday,” said Nana Nyarko Ackah-Yensu of +233.
