‘Poor and negative attitude ... the bane of business’

The poor and negative attitude by workers has been identified as one of the major factors that hamper the growth of indigenous businesses.

According to the Board Chairman of SIC Life Savings and Loans (a subsidiary of SIC Life Company Limited), Mr Aaron Issa Anafure, most companies, especially those in the financial sector, are unable to attain their targets because of the poor and negative attitude among their employees.

Speaking at a durbar of workers of the SIC Life Savings and loans in Accra on Saturday, Mr Anafure said companies that achieved massive growth did so because their employees exhibited good interpersonal relations with their clients.

He, therefore, urged workers of the company to adopt the best attitude to attract and maintain clients or customers.

According to him, this would go a long way to boost the image of the company and attract a larger market.

Mr Anafure said competition in the financial sector should not be a threat to the company’s progress; rather an attitudinal change should be their concern.

“If you are able to change your attitude and make sure that your parochial interest does not overshadow the company’s vision, then we shall overcome our competitors,” he explained.

Commendation

The Managing Director of SIC Life Savings and Loans, Mr Richard Appietu, commended the employees for contributing their quota to the success of the company.

“We started as a finance house and now we are a savings and loan company and these are the people who have brought us this far.

“Our next phase is to be elevated from a savings and loans company to a universal bank by 2018,” he stated.

In the interim, he said, the company was geared towards expanding its kiosk banking to address the needs of the low and middle classes in society.
