Oguaa Omanhen chairs Vipers crisis meeting

Facing a number of challenges, which have made the club’s Interim Management Committee (IMC) ineffective, Osabarima Kwesi Atta II has invited prominent citizens of Oguaa and other prominent followers of the club to a meeting at Heritage House (Ato Austin Memorial House) in Cape Coast at 10:00a.m.
The stakeholders meeting aims, among other things, to map out strategies to rescue the division two side and re-position it to enable Vipers to gain promotion to the Division One League and subsequently to the Glo Premier League.
Among speakers for the meeting are the Metropolitan Chief Executive, Mr Anthony Egyir Aikins; Mr Ebo Barton-Odro, MP for Cape Coast North; Mr Edward Kweku Ricketts Hagan, MP for Cape Coast South; Mr Ben Koufie, former GFA chairman; Mr Ekow Sam, an architect based in Accra; and Mr Abakah Turkson, Director of Sonturk Ltd.
According Miss Hannah Bennin, Secretary of the IMC, the situation facing the club is so precarious that they found it difficult to raise money for camping, thus necessitating Saturday’s stakeholders meeting.
She blamed the club’s past management for not leaving the IMC with players, footballs, boots, among other vital assets.
“The past management did not show any interest to continue and, therefore, kept the club’s properties, including the players’ registeration cards and other items, in their care. The situation made it difficult for the management and the club to perform well,’’ she lamented.
Ms Bennin expressed her delight about steps taken by the club’s Chief Patron to help save the situation before it got out of hand.
“Osabarimba is considering a number of restructuring exercises, which involve setting up a Council of Patrons and Board of Directors to assist the management and players to perform better and qualify the club to the elite premier division.’’
Osabarimba Kwesi Atta II, she disclosed, had made appointments of some prominent personalities to the Council of Patrons and Board of Directors to be sworn-in during Saturday’s crisis meeting in Cape Coast.
