Celebration of milestones: St John’s Grammar old students donate items to alma mater


The years groups who are celebrating their milestones of completing school were the 1982, 1992, 2002 and 2012-year groups respectively.

The items included 150 mono desks in total, 50 each from the 1982, 1992 and 2002 year groups respectively and three sets of projectors from all the year groups. The ceremony which was held last Friday, December 9, 2022 at the school’s premises at Achimota in Accra saw in attracted students from the various year groups, the President of JOSA, the headmaster and current students.

The Presidents of the various year groups, Mr  Maxwell Klottey (1982), Mr Michael Azuayi (1992), Mr Issac Asante (2002), and Miss Mary.D. Owusu (2012) cautioned the current students of the school to take their books seriously, desist from bad behaviour and know that they can achieve anything once they set their minds to it.

According to the leaders of the various year groups, the items donated (90 desks, 150 mono desks and three projectors) are to facilitate teaching and learning at the school and offer an advanced technology in teaching.

The Headmaster of the school, Mr Thomas Kyei Bredu, accepted the items and highlighted the need for past students of senior high schools across the country, not just St John’s Grammar, to help their alma maters. He thanked the old students (JOSA) and promised that the school would use the items to the betterment of the entire student population.


 

Mr Kyei Bredu further addressed some concerns of the school such as, a need for expansion or building of new classrooms to accommodate the rising number of students that currently stands at 5,400 being the highest in Greater Accra.
