Juaben, St. Sebastian for inter-schools debate final
Juaben Senior High school and Saint Sebastian Senior High School, all in the Ashanti region, are through to the final of the maiden inter-schools debate in Juaben as part of activities marking the golden jubilee anniversary of Nana Otuo Siriboe II since ascending to the throne as Omanhene of the Juaben Traditional Council.
Juaben SHS booked its place in the final after dispatching Konongo Odumase SHS with 70 points as against 57 points while St. Sebastian SHS accounted for St Mary's SHS with 64 points as against 60 points.

The competition which has been running for about a month is organised by the Juaben Anniversary Planning Committee in conjunction with the Ghana Education Service (GES).
The debate was to evaluate the importance of energy resources as a blessing to Ghana.
Celebration
The year-long celebration, which was launched early this year is expected to be climaxed with a grand durbar in December with President Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo as the special guest of honour.
Nana Otuo Siriboe II, who also doubles as the chairman of the Council of State, was enstooled 50 years ago in his early 20s after graduating from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) as an electrical engineer.
He worked briefly with the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) before ascending to the throne.
Anniversary
The chairman of the Anniversary Planning Committee, Pastor Obeng Boateng, said the purpose of the debate was to promote the speaking of the English language and promote the reading culture to broaden their scope.
He said the debate would help build students confidence, develop students presentation skills and encourage hard work through public recognition.
Pastor Boateng told students to take advantage of the opportunity since it will enhance their research skills and add value to them.
He entreated school authorities to let debates feature prominently on their entertainment calendar in order to improve students intellectual skills.
A senior lecturer of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Dr. Kofi Amakye Boateng who was a judge at the event, congratulated students for their wonderful display and for putting up an excellent show.
He urged students to present factual evidence to enhance their debating skills and pleaded with teachers to train them well before they go for competitions.
Dr Amakye Boateng commended Nana Otuo Siriboe II for factoring educational activities into his programme and suggested that the debate be made a yearly affair.
