Reports say they had burglar proof doors, which made it difficult for neighbours to save them from the grips of death.
It's no news that many people use burglar proof doors just to ward off thieves. This was the case at Budumburam.
What was meant to scare thieves ended up taking the lives of a whole family.
How can this balancing be done?
• Plan on fixing at least two exits to a room when building a facility.
• Get fire extinguishers to manage fires before the Fire Service arrives.
• Instead of using the regular and fixed burglar proof, one can opt for the collapsible type of burglar proof, which has a key and can be opened easily just by shifting or sliding.
• No burglar proof for windows because, the window acts as an emergency exit point when there's a fire outbreak or a faulty door.
• Get a detection alarm system like a smoke detector to help know when a fire is pending.
• Water hydrants must not be used as main source of water for homes.
