DNI Foundation donates sanitary pads and other items to Gbeogo School for the Deaf in Upper East
The Disability is Not Inability (DNI) Foundation,a humanitarian organization is making arrangements to adopt and support the education of four pupils of the Gbeogo School for the Deaf in the Talensi District of the Upper East Region from the primary up to the tertiary level.
This is in line with the vision of the Founder of the Foundation, Ms Esther Tibila to educate about 500 physically challenged children by 2030.

The Regional Project Coordinator of the Foundation, Mr Ayine Akolgo made this known when the Foundation presented sanitary pads, nose masks, face shields, some bags of rice and toiletries to physically challenged girls in the Gbeogo School for the Deaf on Wednesday, August 19,2020.
He said the donation formed part of the Foundation's Menstrual Hygiene Programme to provide sanitary pads to girls in deprived schools in the country.
Mr Akolgo further stated that the Foundation was established in 2018 to cater for the needs of physically challenged children saying the organization had within the past two years given support to these children in the area of helping some of them to establish businesses and supporting them to acquire skills.
The Foundation’s vision he stated is to create a community where people with diverse forms of disabilities are empowered, valued and actively involved in all aspects of society.

Using himself as an example, he said when he was less than two years old he was affected by polio hence he became physically challenged but after going through so many challenges including shame he was now pursuing his Doctorate Degree programme.
He therefore entreated all those who are physically challenged not to despair but to persevere in life in order to reach their goals in life and contribute to the development of the society adding that disability is not inability.

The Assistant Headmaster of the School for the Deaf, Mr Sylvester Ateo expressed gratitude to the Foundation for the support and assured the organization of distributing the items appropriately to the beneficiaries.
He noted that the school which was established in 1996 has a total pupil population of 396 who are between the ages of six and thirty years old.
Touching on challenges of the school, he appealed to stakeholders and public spirited organizations to support the school to get its Post Junior High School Vocational Training institution accredited for it to start academic work immediately.
