Pray to avert calamities in the country — Archbishop Addae

The Moderator of the International Council of Churches and Ministers of Great Britain (ICCMGB), Archbishop Samuel Richard Addae, has waded into recent calls on religious bodies and the citizenry to pray without ceasing to help avert the recent suicide cases among the youth.

He said the rate at which the youth were committing suicide, including the increasing vehicular accidents on some major roads, called for immediate spiritual intervention.

He made the call during an ordination service for 112 priests of the Shiloh United Church (SUC) at the Jubilee Park in Kumasi.

Support

Archbishop Addae, who doubles as the General Overseer of SUC, also urged the ordained pastors to go into the world and help rally support for God.

He was speaking on the theme: ‘’The need for more labourers.’’

According to him, there were still many people who desired to know Jesus, but there were few Christian mentors who were ready to share the Gospel with them.

"The harvest is indeed plentiful, and it is pitiful that the workforce is few," he said.

Condemnation

Archbishop Addae condemned the peddling of insults among pastors in the media, especially on radio, saying the ICCMGB would not countenance members who “engage in such mischievous practices”.

He stated that the kingdom race was not a competition, neither was it a show of spiritual prowess.

"It is simply a race against sin such as pride, envy, poverty, selfishness, wickedness, immorality and all forms of worldly pleasures," the Archbishop stated.

He commended Ghanaians for the maturity exhibited before, during and after the December 2016 Presidential and Parliamentary polls, adding that; "God has always been faithful to our dear motherland."
