Kessben fetes 1,600 elderly people in Kumasi
The Kessben Group of Companies on New Year’s Day hosted a get-together in Kumasi for the elderly between the ages of 70 and 110.
The attendees numbering about 1,600 were drawn from the Ashanti Region and other parts of the country and included retired civil servants, retired security personnel, traditional and religious leaders who have contributed significantly to the country's socio-economic development.

They were provided with food and soft drinks, a piece of cloth each and souvenirs of the company, including 'T' shirts and cups and an undisclosed amount of money.
The programme, which is held annually, was instituted by the Kessben Group 15 years ago and is meant to show love to the elderly in society.
They danced to songs performed by G.H., a Kumasi-based guitar band, backed by two elderly musicians, Akonoba J.K. and Wofa Yaw Asomaning.
Celebrating the aged
The Chief Executive Officer of Kessben Group of Companies, Mr Stephen Boateng, popularly known as Kwabena Kesse, said senior citizens had contributed to the nation’s development and needed to be celebrated.
He said it was one of the company’s cardinal principles to assist in making life comfortable for the aged.
Appreciation
Some of the beneficiaries who spoke to the Daily Graphic expressed their appreciation to Mr Kesse for his generosity.
They said they had always been part of the programme since its inception and prayed to God to continue to help the Kessben Group to progress.
