The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of Ledzokuku, Mrs Evelyn Naa Adjeley Twum-Gyamrah, has inaugurated a six-unit classroom block for the Krobo 1&2 Primary School at Teshie with a call on the school authorities to ensure the proper management of the facility.

The MCE, who charged both pupils and teachers to protect the facility, said the project was in line with the government's agenda to provide quality education at zero or minimum cost at various stages of the educational level.

According to her, the assembly would, in the coming days, inaugurate two other school blocks located at Tsuibleoo and Teshie Zongo within the municipality.

The facility

The six-unit classroom block, which is expandable to an 18-unit block, has an office , a storeroom and washrooms.

The project, which was funded from the Urban Development Grant (UDG) at a cost of GH¢1,323,377.29, is also aimed at supporting communities with serene learning environments to promote education.

For her part, the Municipal Director of Education, Mrs Gladys Naa-Ahinee Clerk, said the facility had come at a good time, and would help address the shortfall in infrastructure in the municipality which has resulted from increased enrolment in schools in the area within the last three years.

She also indicated that the facility would go a long way to enhance teaching and learning and also provide the children with a conducive teaching and learning atmosphere.

She commended the assembly and appealed for more of such facilities within the municipality.

Appreciation

The Headmistress of the School, Mrs Emily Akafia, lauded the assembly for the strides it is making towards giving the school a facelift to promote education in the community.

According to her, the school, which was founded in 1972, currently had a student population of 360.

She mentioned that the school previously ran a shift system and its pupils continued their junior high school (JHS) education in other schools.

She, however, indicated that the school now ran a full shift and had also introduced the JHS department with some of its pupils in JHS One at the moment.
