President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo on Tuesday officially launched the government's Free Senior High School programme in Accra, saying that knowledge and talent cannot be for the privileged alone hence the programme will widen the gates to opportunities for all.
According to the president, he was labelled a liar when he pledged implementation, with propagandists nailing it as a vote-buying gimmick, while others yet said it would only be possible in 20 years time. However, today, the reality is that it has seen the light of day and even though it is seeing some teething challenges as would all human endeavours, all Ghanaians must support it.
"Nananom, Ladies and Gentlemen, as is with all human endeavours, you will certainly face challenges in the implementation of this policy of Free SHS despite our best preparations and efforts. We may falter, but by the Grace of Almighty God, we shall not fall, for we will be ready in all humility to accept inputs and criticisms aimed at improving the policy."
