Dr Dogbatsey helps people with prostrate cancer

Dr Dogbatsey: An entrepreneur with a passion for the sick

Medi-Moses Prostate Centre focuses on curing prostate enlargement by using purely natural herbs. The Founder and Chief Executive Officer of the centre, Dr De-Gaulle Moses Dogbatsey (DMD) talks to Ama Amankwah Baafi (GB) about prostate enlargement treatment.

GB: What basically goes on at Medi-Moses Prostate Centre?

DMD: We are specialised in treating prostate problems. Be it benign prostate enlargement or prostate cancer or prostatitis which is the inflammation of the prostate gland. Although we treat many other diseases in addition.

We treat both male and female conditions including infertility, low sperm count, sexual; hepatitis, diabetes, malaria, typhoid, a whole range of diseases that we manage here.

We have various facilities available. We have the X-Ray department and do ultra sound scanning of various parts of the body such as the neck, chest, abdomen and so on. We have laboratory services. We use pure natural fruit supplements for the treatment of most of our diseases, although we also use orthodox medicine.

So far, we have four main branches and the main one is at the Adenta barrier, Ashaiman-Adjei Kojo, Ministries in Accra and Ahenema kokoben in Kumasi.

GB:How serious is prostate problem in Ghana?

DMD: It is quite serious, especially the benign prostate enlargement. Once you are a man, you are most likely to have your prostate enlarged from the age of about 35 years your prostate starts enlarging and you start getting the symptoms. The older you get, the more likely you are to have the symptoms.

But most people may not have symptoms at all. The symptoms of prostate enlargement include urinating frequently both day and night and then when you feel like urinating you cannot hold it but you have to rush.

Even when you want to urinate, it delays before coming and eventually when it starts coming, it doesn’t come with speed but comes slowly and in breaks. Again, when you finish urinating, you feel like some of the urine is left in the bladder.

Sometimes you have pain in the lower abdomen and waist pain and all that. These are just the symptoms and when it becomes cancerous, you see blood and associated with that you may have loss of appetite, lose weight, be unable to sleep well, and when you walk, you become easily tired.

The prostate enlargement is the most benign condition. Prostate cancer forms about five to 10 per cent of the conditions of prostate enlargement.

The younger generation from 15 years and above have the inflammation of the prostate gland which also presents similar symptoms.

GB:How long have you been in existence?

DMD: Medi-Moses Clinic and Herbal Centre has been in existence since 1993 but Medi-Moses Prostate Centre was established in 2008.

GB:How do you deal with myths about herbal treatment?

DMD:It’s a green revolution. People now want the natural way of treating ailment so we provide reasonable alternative to them.

For prostate enlargement, until we came into the scene, the only real solution was for people to do surgery. We have about six groups of orthodox drugs worldwide that are being used but all of them do not really decrease the size of the prostate. At best what they do is it relaxes the urethra muscle so one can urinate freely. What we brought reduces the size of the prostate back to normal, no matter how big.

GB: What are some of the achievements and challenges of the centre?

DMD:Our natural form of treatment is seen as best across the world so we have won awards  from United States of America, London, France and Germany because of our nature of treatment.

In 2013 for example, I was honoured with the International Arch of Europe Quality Award (Gold Category) at a ceremony in Frankfurt, Germany.

We have treated over 25,000 people across the world.  People are on orthodox drugs for a long time may be 10 to 15 years

We try to do our best and people who have always given testimonies. We don’t do much in terms of advertisement but by word of mouth people get to know of our services.

There is always a challenge in every endeavour but we take it a day at a time

GB: Going forward what should the customers expect from you in 2015 and beyond?

DMD: We will always be there for them. They can trust our products and we try to improve on what to do so they can always be rest assured that if it comes from Medi-Moses, then it can only be the best.

We have nationals from all over the world patronising our services. We are also in Nigeria and Liberia.

GB: Do you have any advice for your clients?

DMD: Once you come here and we finish treating you, you don’t relax but you need to come back every three months for reviews.

Those who do not have it, we advice that once you are male above the age of 35 years make sure that at least once a year, you make it your birthday present to check your prostate.

GB: What is the unique selling proposition for your customers?

DMD:The centre has carved a niche for itself as one of the best prostate treatment centres in the world. It’s not just by saying but we have received awards accolades from Germany so we pride ourselves that we want to be the best and the leader in the market.

We have a sister organisation, Medi-Moses Prostate Foundation, which is involved in advocacy and public education, we do free screening, go to churches, the media to enlighten the public about prostate issues.
