Berock embraces best practice
Berock Ventures, an indigenous construction firm, has held a seminar on the challenges facing the construction industry and how they can be surmounted.

The event, held in Accra, was part of activities marking the 20th anniversary celebrations of Berock Ventures.
The Director of Housing, Alhaji Yahaya Yakubu, who represented the Minister of Water Resources, Works and Housing, said that the government’s purpose of setting up the infrastructure fund, as announced in the 2014 budget, was to fundamentally change the funding and delivery of infrastructure in the country.
The fund is expected to enhance timely payments, promote efficient delivery of government projects and, ultimately, reduce costs, he noted.
Alhaji Yakubu, however, stated that in order to achieve that, local contractors, especially needed to complement the government’s efforts by adhering to best practices and deliver quality projects on time.
Alhaji Yahaya said the ministry was committed to building the capacity of local construction firms to make them more competitive. It would, therefore, be rolling out various programmes to that effect.
He said the successes and achievements chalked by Berock Ventures over the last 20 years was remarkable, and the government would be happy to see a lot more indigenous construction companies reaching such heights.
He also suggested that construction companies combined resources through joint ventures and partnerships in order to make them stronger and more competitive.
For his part, the Chief Executive Officer of Berock Ventures, Mr Courage Dogbegah, assured the government that it would continue to adhere to best practices and the timely delivery of projects as had been its hallmark for the past 20 years.
Mr Dogbegah stated that their quest for excellence and professionalism had seen them undertaking projects in all 10 regions of the country to the satisfaction and admiration of their clients.
Some of the projects the company had undertaken included the first National Blood Centre for the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, the ICT Park at Tema and an ultra-modern 15-storey office complex for the Ghana Shippers Authority, among others.
He said the company was poised to go beyond the shores of Ghana and be associated with quality construction works across Africa and other parts of the world.
The Founder and Chairman of Berock Ventures, Mr Rockson Dogbegah, recounted the journey of the company from building its first project, a two-bedroom head teacher’s bungalow in Keklebesi in the Volta Region to building a 15-storey building for the Shippers Authority.
