The Ghana Athletics Association (GAA) has entered sprinter Janet Amponsah as the country's sole representative for the August 10-18 event.
Amposah, who will be competing in the 200m event, will be representing Ghana at this level for the first time in her career.
She competed at the IAAF Junior Championship in Barcelona last year where she came fifth after recording her personal best of 23.41 seconds.
The reigning Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) Female Athlete of the Year, enjoyed an impressive spell last year, bagging two gold medals in 100m and 200m at the inaugural West African Junior Athletics Championship in Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire, and among other competitions.
At the 2011 World Championship in Daegu, Ghana entered seven athletes in four events, namely long jump, heptathlon, 100m and 4x100m.
Meanwhile, officials of the GAA will participate in the IAAF Congress from August 6 to 8 on the sidelines of the World Championship.
