A citation to the ambassador read: “Your efforts at ensuring that trade between Ghana and Turkey moves to a higher dimension is gradually yielding results.”

“Your passion and desire to see holistic development and material welfare in the livelihood of Ghanaians is manifested in the directed support you have extended to communities by donating medical equipment,” it noted.

“Through the instrumentality of Her Excellency, the Turkish government donated US$100,000 to the Ghana fund for the flood victims for the construction of a block wall along the Odaw channel,” it said.

“Your Excellency, you have created a smooth platform for businesses, entrepreneurs and professionals to connect with their counterparts in Turkey, hence the visit by the Istanbul Chamber of Commerce in 2015 and the recent visit by the Turkish President and a cream of business delegation  to Accra,” it added.

Addressing the gathering, Ms Bayazit expressed gratitude to the institute for the honour done her and added that she would cherish and remember the day very well because that was the first recognition she had received in her lifetime.

“It is a great honour having great personalities of the country present here to honour me. I am equally grateful to ICEG for recognising my efforts at ensuring smooth and efficient business partnership between Ghana and Turkey,” she said.

She added that her government was very committed to improving trade relations between the two countries.

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the institute, Mr Daniel Amateye Anim, said: “ICEG believes that at this stage of Ghana's development, it will be highly unfortunate for the country to solely rely on others for its very survival, hence the need to strategically partner emerging economies for mutual benefits.”
