Oly target revenge against Hearts on Sunday

Accra Great Olympics head coach, Tom Christian Strand, and his assistant, Godwin Attram, have fired warning shots at their regional rivals, Accra Hearts of Oak, ahead of their Week 25 Premier League fixture on Sunday, stating they are out to seek revenge for the 1-2 loss they suffered in the first round at the Accra Sports Stadium.

In separate interviews with the Graphic Sports yesterday, both Strand and Attram were very optimistic about winning Sunday’s clash as a loss to the Phobians would mean saying goodbye to the Premiership, a situation they agreed would be detrimental to Olympics’ image.

With just six games to end the season, the Dade lads have managed just 26 points and are placed at the 15th position on the log. But the two coaches say the mission to escape relegation is possible, beginning with the fall of the big oak tree on Sunday.

"My wish is to fix Olympics even if my contract would not be renewed after it expires next month. I don't want to leave Oly in the state we are now so we have been training since the league went on break", said the Swedish coach.

"Coach Attram is back from the Netherlands and we are working together so I can tell you that there is hope for us on Sunday because, in football anything can happen. Hearts have all the big players but football is sometimes unpredictable," added the Swede.

Attram was equally emphatic that nothing short of a win would be in the club’s best interest: “We must win against Hearts or we forget about the league. The situation may look hopeless but we believe that football is a game and anything can happen. We need the three points more than Hearts so we must do everything to earn it.”

Attram said Olympics would count on skipper Emmanuel Odonkor, striker Kwame Boateng, defender Adom Ampofo and midfielder Benjamin Arthur to pull the rest of the team along for the all-important victory.

Third-placed Hearts will fancy a win to keep their title hunt alive as the top two clubs, WAFA and Aduana Stars, could widen the gap with a win.
