It said that the company did not have any hand in the alleged demolition exercise that occurred on Thursday, September 3, 2015 because they did not have any legal backing to embark on such an exercise.

A statement signed and issued in Accra by a Communication Consultant, Mr Albert K. Dwumfour, on behalf of the company, said contrary to media reports at the time of the exercise, its Chief Executive Officer, Mr Kofi Asmah, was not present at the scene of the exercise.

At the time of releasing the statement, it said, no legal resident or client of the Millennium City had lodged any formal complaint with the company or against it at any police station or any state security agency for being affected by the alleged demolition.

“We have confidence in the state security agencies and are prepared to assist them in any investigation of the alleged happenings when the need arises,” it said.

The statement also said the alleged portion of land where the demolition exercise took place was currently the property of some personnel of the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF), which was sold to them by 21st Century Construction Limited with the consent of Nana Obeng Wiabo, the current chief of Gomoa Nyanyano.

It said it was also on record that persons purporting to be land guards were selling portions of the land belonging to personnel of the GAF to innocent third parties due to the delay in the development of the land.

“Hence, we entreat the general public to be very cautious of such people and urge them to take the pains to ascertain the authenticity and ownership of any property they intend to acquire at Millennium City,” the statement advised.

It also warned that if care was not taken, there was going to be an influx of land guards in the area and urged the security agencies to assist in controlling the activities of the land guards as they posed a threat to human lives and properties.

Meanwhile the company has expressed its sympathies to those who were affected, especially the family that lost its loved one and those who were injured.
