Mr David Merson, counsel for Micah, who is being held over a narcotic offence, told the court that his client had a back ache and prayed the court to oblige the investigator to assist him to seek medical attention.

He said Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Moses Atibillah, the prosecutor, had told him that he had been called to the office and prayed the court for adjournment.

Earlier, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Patience Mario who held brief for ACP Atibillah, also confirmed that the prosecutor had been called to the office for another equally important engagement.

Prosecution was supposed to call its second witness in the matter but it was adjourned to September 4.

Ekow Micah has denied the charge of possessing narcotic drugs without lawful authority and he is currently on remand.

Narrating the facts of the case earlier, ACP Atibillah said Micah is a resident of Ogbojo, near Kokrobite in Accra.

He said on August 4, Micah was arrested by the Airport Police over an alleged extortion case currently under investigations. ACP Atibillah said the following day, at about 1130 hours, the Police and Micah visited the latter’s house to conduct a search and in the process, a quantity of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp was found concealed in Micah’s “back pack”.

Prosecution said the exhibit has been forwarded to the Police Forensic Crime laboratory for examination.
