Ministry of Youth and Sports condemns violence at Bofoakwa Tano-Nsoatreman match

In an official statement released on November 20, 2023, the Ministry of Youth and Sports expressed strong condemnation for the deplorable violence that marred a league match between Bofoakwa Tano and Nsoatreman F. C. on Sunday, November 19, 2023, at the Sunyani Coronation Park.

The Ministry firmly asserted that such acts of violence have no place in football and extended heartfelt wishes for the swift recovery of Coach Maxwell Konadu, who was affected by the incident.

The Ministry called on the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to collaborate with relevant stakeholders, including law enforcement agencies, to conduct a comprehensive investigation into the unfortunate incident.

Acknowledging the commitment of the Ghana Police Service to apprehend the suspects responsible for the act, the Ministry urged swift justice to send a clear message that violence in football will not be tolerated.

Additionally, the Ministry called upon the Ghana Football Association to work closely with all necessary stakeholders to bolster security at all match venues. Emphasizing the paramount importance of the safety of teams, players, and spectators, the Ministry stressed the need for concerted efforts to create an environment free from violence and hooliganism.

Football, as a unifying force, should not be marred by incidents that tarnish the beauty of the game, and the Ministry expressed solidarity with all victims of the unacceptable incident. The statement concluded by reaffirming the Ministry's commitment to fostering a safe and inclusive football environment, urging football enthusiasts and stakeholders to uphold the values of fair play, sportsmanship, and respect.
