Revamp educational sector with resources to unearth talents in children
A Municipal Director of Education has said there is the need to revamp the educational sector with the requisite resources to in order to develop curriculum that would unearth talents embedded in children.

Mrs Margaret Frimpong Koree, the Municipal Director of Education in Ga South, said curriculum which seeks to unearth talents in children was not being given the deserved attention as a result of lack of resources.
She said schools have also neglected this aspect of education, adding that for children to discover their talents they ought to be introduced to certain vocations whiles in school.
Mrs Koree was speaking at the official inauguration of Talented Royals International School, a private institution located at Weija in Accra.
The ultra-modern school complex comprised of 24 classrooms, a security post, a clinic, playing ground, Information Communication Technology laboratory, a well-stocked library and security cameras to monitor activities within the complex.
Children in the school would be given the opportunity to unearth their talents through various activities including participating in brass band music creation, cultural drumming and dancing among others.
Mrs Koree said pursuing academic laurels is good; however, it is important to march academic work with vocations so that children can easily identify their talents.
She pleaded with parents not dictate to their wards when choosing vocations and rather encourage and support them to pursue the vocations of their choice.
“God has given each one a talent and when it is unearthed it becomes easier for the children instead of holding them to vocations they dislike.
Whiles educating children with good morals, they must also do something by themselves,” she said.
Mrs Koree urged the management of the school to embark on effective monitoring and supervision in order to maintain standards and achieve their stated vision.
“Success of education depends on effective supervision and monitoring. You can have the best materials to run the school but if supervision is not done well you will fail,” she said.
The Municipal Director of Education urged the school to make provision for needy but brilliant students by offering them scholarships.
Mr Edward Afful, the Director of the School, told the audience that pupils who excelled academically would be sent to abroad to gain international exposure.
He said the school would soon roll out boarding facilities and establish a Senior High School.
Mr Ernest Ntow, the Assistant Headmaster of the School, appealed to parents to evaluate the performance of their wards and supervise their homework.
Nii Boafo Daanyinaaese I, Acting Chief of Weija and Dzaasetse, appealed to the school to instill discipline in the pupils saying indiscipline in the society was on the ascendency.
Nii Daanyinaaese, Mrs Joana Osei-Poku, a Retired Commissioner of Police and Mrs Koree jointly cut the tape to inaugurate the school.
