At the launch in Tamale on Saturday, Mr Iddrisu, who is also the Minister of Employment and Labour Relations, declared “President Mahama can tick Tamale South and tick every polling station in the constituency as won for him in the December 7 polls.”

He also told the cheering crowd “I have been your Member of Parliament for the last 12 years and I have endeavoured to the best of my ability and capacity to reflect and mirror your aspirations and development needs in the national assembly.”

Working hard

Mr Idrissu, however, admitted that there were unresolved issues and challenges ahead in addressing youth unemployment, micro support for women, expansion of access to education and health and improving the road network.

He therefore pledged to continue to work hard in order to enable President Mahama to retain power in this year's elections for him to continue his good work for the country and constituency.

He also promised to work hard to improve the lives of the people in his constituency if voted for in the December polls.

He said, the NDC government, under the leadership of President Mahama, had embarked on a number of infrastructural projects to make the country a good place to live.

That, he stated, must propel Ghanaians to continue putting their trust in President Mahama and the NDC government by renewing their mandate to rule the country.

Majority leader

The Majority Leader in Parliament, Mr Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, indicated that the NDC was targeting two-thirds majority of the seats in Parliament in this year's elections.

According to him, the NDC was on its way to obtaining the two-thirds of the seats in Parliament and also secure more than 70,000 votes in the Tamale South Constituency in the Northern Region in the December polls.

He said the NDC administration, under the presidency of President Mahama, had worked hard to transform the lives of Ghanaians and the country as a whole.

Launch

Mr Bagbin said the good people of the country would vote massively for the NDC in this year's elections in order to enable the party to continue its good works.

He said, it would be unfortunate to give power to the New Patriotic Party (NPP) since the party had nothing good to offer Ghanaians.

He added that voting for the NPP was tantamount to walking on a direct path of destruction.

He, therefore, implored the electorate in the Tamale South Constituency to vote massively for Mr Iddrisu and President Mahama in the December polls.

He said it would be unfortunate to lose the likes of Mr Iddrisu in Parliament thus, the need for the people in the constituency to retain him.

He added that he was the right person to represent the Tamale South Constituency in Parliament.

Dignitaries

He was supported by some national and regional executives of the party including the Minister of Communications, Dr Edward Omane-Boamah to launch his campaign.
