The boy who was detained for a night and released late Monday afternoon around 3:00pm alleged that he was physically abused by Customs officials who arrested and later handed him over to the police.

According to a Myjoyonline.com report, the boy's father, Mr Isaac Kwarteng said it had to take the intervention of the Assembly man of the area for the boy to be released from police custody.

Narrating his ordeal , the boy said the posters were on the walls near the Adomi Bridge and that it was already defaced before he and two of his friends decided to tear other parts of the poster.

According to him, he cried all night because he had no appetite for food.

"When they sent me into the cell they locked me up. I was in the cell alone. I cried all night," he said

Ghana's electoral laws state that "It is an offence to destroy, remove or disfigure campaign materials of other candidates or parties."

The Assembly man who intervened confirmed the incident but refused to speak on the matter saying that it had already been resolved.
