The Kumasi Metropolis was on May 25, 2016 the place to be when the Earl of Wessex, Prince Edward Anthony Richard Louis, led a delegation to call on the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, at his Manhyia Palace in Kumasi, as part of his three-day visit to the country.

Prince Edward, who is also the third son of the Queen of England, Queen Elisabeth, was accompanied by the British High Commissioner to Ghana, Mr Jon Benjamin, and Lord Paul Boateng, Chairman of the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Awards Foundation.

The team was led by the Minister of Youth and Sports, Mr Edwin Nii Lantey Vanderpuije.

On arrival at the palace, the delegation met and interacted with some selected Senior High School students in the Metropolis ahead of the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Awards scheduled to be hosted in Ghana by the year 2018.

They were ushered to the palace with a warm reception amid rich cultural display to herald the ceremony, which attracted many people including school children, who hoisted the national flags of Ghana and the United Kingdom as a symbol of harmony among the two countries.
