Speaking on the theme: “The Role Of Parents In The Child’s Education” at the 15th Speech and Prize Giving Day of the St K. Michael’s School in Accra, she said a number of parents neglected their children’s education and rather concentrated on social and church activities and that situation adversely affected their education.

According to Ms Edjeani, parents involvement in their children’s education would help them to identify their “learning and developmental problems early enough so that corrective actions can be taken.”

She added that “parents’ interest and involvement in their children’s education would help strengthen the link between the home and the school and increase children’s interest in learning.”

She urged parents to educate their children at home to observe proper personal hygiene, dress decently and also practise good social etiquettes in speaking, eating, sleeping and walking, in order to complement the training they received in school.

The Director of the school, Mr Michael Kuevor, said the institute, which began 15 years ago with three pupils, now had 600 pupils.

The Abeka Mantse, Nii Boi Agbo XI, spoke about the importance of  knowledge and said it was a powerful tool for national development.

The School Prefect, Master Emmanuel Akorli, called on parents to provide their children with their educational needs to enable them to concentrate on their education.
