GTUC holds 14th matriculation

The Ghana Technology University College (GTUC) has held its 14th matriculation at a ceremony in Accra.

At the function, students pursuing certificate, diploma and degree programmes for the January intake for the 2013/2014 academic year were inducted into the college. 

The new students were also granted full status as members of the university community.

Courses at GTUC

About 700 students who are to pursue courses in Engineering and Business Information Technology (BIT) took the matriculation oath at the Accra Campus of the college.

In addition to the existing programmes, the GTUC has introduced other programmes in collaboration with its international partners for the 2013/2014 academic year. They are doctoral, master’s and degree programmes in Business Administration, Healthcare Management and Information Communication Technology.

Others are MA Education (Educational Leadership), Masters in Business Administration, MBA Healthcare Management and MBA International Trade.

The university’s role

Speaking at the function, the Vice-President of the GTUC, Dr Robert A. Baffour, congratulated the first-year students and said the GTUC’s vision was to produce students who would excel academically and professionally.

Matriculation is a ceremony that indicates that fresh students have been formally admitted to an institution.

Dr Baffour assured the matriculants that they had come to a place that welcomed the opportunity to take young men and women through all potential educational challenges and learning opportunities to enable them develop future leaders for  Ghana, Africa and the whole world.

“As a university, our role is to produce graduates who will stand out and will be known to be bold, confident, articulate, professional, entrepreneurial, visionary and have a deep sense of social and ethical responsibility. Always remember that the key to success is in your own hands,”  Dr Baffour said.
