Pupils of the club were treated to various experiments and activities in science, engineering and technology.

They were also given the opportunity to try their hands on some of the experiments and watched some exhibitions.

Club members from the Abossey Okai R/C Basic School, Mataheko R/C Junior High School and the Mataheko 1 Basic School participated in the programme.

It formed part of the second phase of the ‘Evolve With STEM’ initiative which was launched in November last year by Airtel Ghana Limited.

The Managing Director of Airtel Ghana Limited, Ms Lucy Quist, said the STEM Club was meant to enable children to have fun while they learnt new things.

Ms Quist said the club would give pupils the opportunity to maximise their exposure to the environment around them to make them more informed so as to help them make the right choices regarding their career paths.

According to her, the experimental fair was organised in partnership with various organisations that work to promote STEM.

Some of the organisations, she said, included The Exploratory, STEM Centre, Novan Education and some staff of Airtel Ghana.

She further explained that “STEM is an accelerator for development and we as Ghanaians need to solve many challenges in our journey as a developing country.’’

“STEM helps in analysing, planning, strategising for decision —making and it is very relevant in every sector of our economy,” she added.

An IT Specialist at Airtel Ghana, Mrs Hillary Arko-Dadzie, advised the students to make extra time to study subjects they often found difficult.
