Chemu SHS observes Language Week
Chemu Senior High School in Tema has observed its maiden Language Week celebrations.

The three-day event was to promote the teaching and speaking of English, French, Ga and Akan which had both the teachers and students participating.
The theme for the celebration was: “The limits of my language are the limits of my world”
During the event, teachers and students were allowed to express themselves on any subject and topic of their choice using the English, French, Ga or Akan.
Other activities held included a lecture and poetry recitals in the selected languages, an inter house word game competition, drama (based on the approved textbook Ananse in the land of Idiots), inter-class spelling competition and a short sketch in French.
Speaking to the Junior Graphic, the Head of the Languages Department of the school, Mrs Anita Venolia Atitsogbui said, the language week was instituted to help the students improve their knowledge and assist them speak the selected languages well to boost their communication and language skills.
Mrs Atitsogbui said the performance of the students and teachers during the celebration, though fun-laden was used to identify common errors in the use of the selected languages for correction.
The Headmistress of the Chemu Senior High School, Ms Felicia Assimeng-Kore, commended the language department for organising the week, adding that each of the participants did a tremendous job.
In the spelling competition, Ms Pristine Agbozo of Form One Science came tops followed by Shaila Midey, (Form Two Arts) and Edmund Bortier (Form Two Arts)
In the Word Game contest, Ms Christable Success Treve (Form One Arts) came first followed by Ms Clara-Maria Kpomegbe (Form Two Arts).
