Dr Duffuor pledges support for NDC, Mahama

A former presidential aspirant of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Dr Kwabena Duffuor, has pledged his support and that of his entire team to the party and its flag bearer, former President John Dramani Mahama for the 2024 general election.

Dr Duffuor made the pledge when he led senior members of his campaign team for the May 2023 NDC flag bearer election to call on Mr Mahama at his residence in Accra.

The visit was in response to a call for unity and close collaboration of all members of the party made by Mr Mahama during a visit he recently paid to Dr Duffuor.

Team

Dr Duffuor’s team included a former Minister of Information and Member of Parliament (MP) for Ablekuma South, Fritz Baffour; a former NDC National Organiser, Yaw Boateng Gyan; a former Eastern Regional Minister and Deputy Minister for Employment and Social Welfare, Antwi-Boisiako Sekyere and a former Press Secretary at the Castle, Osu, Humphrey Abbey Quaye.

The rest are former Lecturer and researcher, NDC Party School, Kofi Kukubor; Spokesperson for Dr Duffuor, Antonio Edem Asinyo and Kwabena Duffuor Jnr, a former NDC parliamentary aspirant and Chairman, Finance Committee of the NDC National Youth Working Committee.

Meeting

Speaking at the meeting, held in a frank, open and very cordial atmosphere, Dr Duffuor pledged his personal, team and entire following’s total support to the party and President Mahama as leader and NDC flag bearer for the 2024 general election.

He stated that the NDC was bigger than any individual and that members of the NDC needed to work together to save the country as the people were looking up to the NDC to rescue the nation from its current woes and total collapse.

President Mahama, for his part, reiterated his call to all members of the party to close their ranks and work hard for the NDC’s victory, as well as prepare for the daunting task of governance that lies ahead due to the depths the current government has plunged the country’s economy and governance.

Present to meet Dr Duffuor and his team were senior members and national executives of the NDC including a member of the NDC Council of Elders, Alhaji Hudu Yahaya; NDC National Vice Chairman, Prof. Joshua Alabi, NDC General Secretary, a former Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah and Joyce Bawah Mogtari, Spokesperson for John Dramani Mahama.

The group also had the privilege of interacting with former First Lady, Lordina Mahama, as well as an interaction with the former Minority Leader and MP for Tamale South, Haruna Iddrissu.
