Kadjebiman loses Omanhene

The Kadjebi Traditional Council in the Oti Region has announced the passing of the Paramount Chief (Omanhene) of the area, Nana Ogyeabour Akompi Finam II.

The Asafohene Okyeame of the Kadjebi Traditional Area, Okyeame Kwaku Ntim, disclosed this during the observance of the 40th day customary rite for the late Omanhene at Kadjebi over the weekend.

He said the funeral rites for the Omanhene had been scheduled for December 4-9, 2019.

A mechanical engineer and elder brother of the late Omanhene, Dr Seth Kwabena Akompi, said the Omanhene was a product of Ho Mawuli Senior School where he completed in 1961, before entering the Ghana Military Academy, Teshie, and passing out as Second Lieutenant on March 14, 1963.

Dr Akompi described Nana Finam II as a brilliant, dedicated and hardworking chief.

He said the Omanhene — born Joseph Kwaku Akompi and a retired Lt Col of the Ghana Army — served as a Secretary to Gen. Ignatius Kutu Acheampong, a military Head of State, from January 13, 1972 to July 5, 1978 and was also a member of the Constitutional Commission of 1978.

Nana Akompi II, born in 1941 and enstooled as Paramount Chief of Kadjebi Traditional Area on April 28, 1985, was also the former Volta Regional Representative on the Council of State.
