Professor Yayra Dzakadzie appointed Deputy Director-General, GTEC
The Director of Tertiary Education of the Ministry of Education, Professor Yayra Dzakadzie, has been appointed Deputy Director General (DDG) for the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC).

An expert in educational outcome assessment, testing, measurement, evaluation, research and Statistics, Prof. Dzakadzie comes to the post with a wealth of experience in the field of education to complement the Current Director-General of GTEC, Professor Ahmed Jinapor, an accomplished professor with many hats, who is also an expert in Curriculum and Instruction.
Teaching experience
Having taught at the various levels of education to the highest as the Vice Dean of the Faculty of Educational Studies, University of Education, Winneba (UEW) Prof.
Dzakadzie began as a Cert ‘A’ teacher after passing out as a professional teacher from the E.P. College of Education.
After being in the classroom for a while, he proceeded to the University of Cape Coast for his first degree.
After obtaining his Bachelor’s degree with First Class, Prof. Dzakadzie returned to the same university to obtain a Master of Philosophy in Measurement and Evaluation.
He further acquired his Doctor of Philosophy Degree in Measurement and Evaluation from the University of Cape Coast, winning the Dean’s Award of Excellence for presenting an outstanding thesis in his area of study.
Prof. Dzakadzie was a tutor at Ada College of Education, Ada-Foah, in the Greater Accra Region before leaving for the university as an Assistant Lecturer in the then Department of Psychology and Education- University of Education, Winneba.
He rose through the ranks to his current rank of an Associate Professor in Measurement, Evaluation, Research and Statistics.
At a point, he was lecturing at three universities in Ghana, made up of the UCC, UEW, and Valley View University, Oyibi.
He is also an external examiner for many doctoral thesis and MPhil thesis for some universities locally and internationally.
At Ministry of Education
Prof. Dzakadzie has presented papers in both local and international conferences and recently was adjudged the best presenter at the World Partial Least Square (PLS) conference in Romania.
He has published widely in both international and local peer-reviewed journals.
He was also the Research Fellow attached to the Ministry of Education for Secondary Education Improvement Project (SEIP)- a World Bank Project.
Aside from being the Director for Tertiary Education at the Ministry of Education, Prof. Dzakadzie was the Technical Adviser to the Minister of Education on tertiary education.
Professional bodies
He belongs to some professional bodies, including the Association of Educational Assessors in Africa (AEAA), the National Council on Measurement (NCM) in the U.S.A. and the American Educational Research Association (AERA), among others.
Prof. Dzakadzie is also a board member for UNESCO Tier Two Centres of Excellence, among others, as well as the inter-governmental Conference of the Global Convention on the Recognition of Qualifications concerning Higher Education in Paris, France.
