Support the young to be better leaders, entrepreneur charges adults
A ghanaian entrepreneur based in the US has appealed to the adult generation to support the young ones to acquire the relevant knowledge, skills and mentality that will make them do better when they take up the mantle of leadership in all sectors of their countries’ economies.
Mr Kofi Tawiah said the development of any country would suffer if its new generation could not outperform the old one.

“A look at any country that has developed shows that the new generation does better than the old one and that should be the norm,” he said.
Mr Tawiah, who owns and runs an IT infrastructure company in California, said this at a ceremony at Enyan Denkyira Senior High Technical School (EDENSEC) in the Central Region to unveil 20 Hp (Hewlett-Packard) desktop computers and accessories he had donated to the school and already got them installed in the school’s computer laboratory.
Generation
Mr Tawiah said because of that idea of helping the young generation, he had formed a foundation, Kofi Tawiah Foundation for Good Citizenship, which he ran in Ghana to offer support to schools and students, and under which he offered the computers to EDENSEC.
Mr Tawiah, a citizen of Enyan Denkyira, therefore, appealed passionately to Ghanaians resident abroad to think of, at least, helping develop their homeland in one way or another.
“I believe in helping the new generation to perform better than their predecessors, hence my interest in students because these are those who will provide care for the older generation one day ,” the chairman of the Kofi Tawiah Foundation said.
He promised that because of a relationship he had with Ashesi University at Brekusu, near Aburi, he would give full scholarships to a number of his young compatriots studying at EDENSEC who would make the grades and gain admission to that tertiary institution.
Headmaster
The Headmaster of EDENSEC, Mr Peter Braimah, and the Paramount Chief of the Enyan Denkyira Traditional Area, Osabarima Otsibu Kwaw VI, both thanked Mr Tawiah for his support to the school and appealed to other citizens of the traditional area to come to the aid of the school and the community at large.
The Head of the ICT Department of EDENSEC, Mr Ebenezer Odoom, said he least expected that Mr Tawiah would donate such high quality computers to a secondary school, explaining that “these kinds of computers are usually seen in the Ministries, Departments, Agencies and other organisations such as SSNIT, WAEC and the banks”.
He said the last time he checked, one of the computers cost GH¢5,650, meaning apart from other expenses, Mr Tawiah had spent GH¢113,000 to procure the 20 computers and appealed to other citizens to help in maintaining them by offering the school at least two split air-conditioners (1.5hp), a Turbo net and curtains, as well as taking up monthly subscription for internet connectivity.
