Buduatta JHS head who failed to register BECE candidates after collecting fees under investigation
The Ministry of Education says it will investigate allegations of financial misconduct against the head teacher of the Gomoa Buduatta District Assembly Junior High School in the Central region.

The headteacher has been accused of collecting Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) registration fees from two students for the ongoing exams but kept the money.
He also reportedly failed to register the students making them to miss the exams.
BECE registration fees for candidates from public schools are absolved by the government.
The Ministry of Education has therefore questioned why the said head teacher reportedly failed to register the students and even collected money from them when the government was paying for the registration fees.
In a radio interview on Accra-based Citi FM on Tuesday (August 8, 2023), the Public Relations Officer of the Education Ministry, Kwasi Kwarteng advised parents not to pay examination fees to head teachers as the government is covering those costs for final year students in public junior high schools.
“It is important to clarify that, unlike students in private schools, students in public Junior high schools are not required to pay when it comes to the registration for the BECE or West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE), this is because as part of the free basic education package, the Ghanaian government has apparently taken the cost and part cost of the registration of the BECE and the entire education cost”.
So it sounds somehow very strange to hear the allegations that have been leveled against him and in some schools”, he stated.
