“The board members are not semi-headmasters,” he said.

He said the boards of schools must play effective roles in supporting the administration of schools to run efficiently but not to usurp powers and control activities in the schools.

Mr Jacob Kor was speaking at the inauguration of a 14-member reconstituted board of governors for the St Augustine’s College in Cape Coast.

He indicated that the school boards must help support and bring their expertise to bear on the management of the schools such as the improvement of infrastructural development adding that  would  help boost the academic performance of the schools they help administer.

Mr Kor urged the board members to live above blame and ensure that resources of the schools were used judiciously.

He commended the past board members of the college for their commitment to the development and wellbeing of the school saying, many great feats were chalked during their tenure and urged the new board to work hard.

Rev. Father John Manso Hamilton, Chairman of the board, pledged the board’s commitment to work.
