Arnold was born with autism, a neuro-developmental disorder.

Autism affects a person in the way of communication, social interaction and makes the person engage in repetitive patterns of behaviour and interests.

The way an autistic child interacts with people differs from the way a normal person will do.

The autistic child is sensitive to noise, shows little or no eye contact, anxious and has tantrums in most cases.

In Ghana most children born with the disorder are neglected by their parents and not provided with the necessary care and training to enable them live a normal life.

Autism cannot be treated but it can be managed.

Arnold is currently a student at the Autism Awareness Care and Training Centre at Kokomlemle in Accra.

Like any other child, Arnold wishes to become a professional photographer and a model in Ghana and across the globe.

Despite his condition, Arnold looks up to developing his talent in photography and modeling to inspire other children with similar conditions.

His talents in photography were recently discovered by his teachers as they noticed his obsession with cameras.

Photographs taken by him are extraordinary, especially from a child with such a condition.

The coordinator at the Autism centre, Ms Matilda Abrukwah told Graphic Online that Arnold was a child everyone loves to be with despite his condition.

She said he was talented at doing lots of artistic things and was among the brilliant and intelligent children in the centre.

Aside his love for photography and modeling, Arnold loves drawing and painting.

With his “sweet voice” he mobilises most of his colleagues to sing praises and worship on a daily basis.

Arnold’s teacher is therefore seeking for support from non-governmental organisations and other benevolent individuals to help nurture his talent and also support the only autism centre in Accra.
