Odo Na Eye is U2Jay’s peace anthem

And now these three things remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.

1 Corinthians 13: 13

Fast-rising Accra –based duo, U2Jay, has never pretended to be a gospel act but their latest song, Odo Na Eye (Love Is Good) appears to have been directly inspired by the above famous Biblical quotation.

In contributing their quota to the massive calls for peace as the date for general elections steadily arrives, the duo of Joseph Wise Laryea (UWonda) and Jewel Nartey (Jewnart) assert that  love for one another is the surest way to ensure national peace.

Their recently-released danceable highlife track rendered in Twi, Ewe, Ga and English enforces their stance that music is an important medium for spreading all kinds of messages.

To them,   it is not out of place to call for national unity on the wings of music at a time when everybody is beginning to feel some tension as the general elections approach.

In the song, U2Jay quote Osagyefo Kwame Nkrumah’s declaration on Independence Day in 1957 that our beloved nation is free forever and add that the freedom must be solidified with peace.

The overriding message in the song is that love for country must always be exhibited above parochial interests and that we must perpetually aim at coming  together through love and harmony.

UWonda and Jewnart have performed on same stage with names like Koo Ntakra, Abrewa Nana, Samini, Nii Funny and Shatta Wale. They have also featured on songs by Kaseem Bebe, Koo Ntakra and Abrewa Nana.

They know  they can keep rising only in an atmosphere of complete peace and that is why they say love is the element to bind us  at all times.
