65 Entrepreneurs trained by Indian Institute and GIMPA

The participantsThe Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT), New Delhi, in collaboration with the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA), has trained 65 entrepreneurs on an Executive Development Programme (EDP) on International Business in Accra.

The five-day programme, which ran from September 30 to October 4, 2013, was to help build the capacity and develop the required skills and professional competence among participants.

It was attended by more than 50 participants who were made up of CEOs, managing directors and other senior executives of various establishments in the public and private sector.

Topics discussed included globalisation and trade policy, economic diplomacy, world trade environment and consumer behaviour analysis in international business, among others.

The President of the Ghana Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI), Mr Seth Adjei-Baah, who was at the closing ceremony, lauded the efforts by the IIFT to impart knowledge to their Ghanaian counterparts.

He said the attempt by the Indians to develop the competencies of people would strengthen the trade relations between the two countries and added that it was impressive and should be supported by all.

The training was facilitated by a three-member faculty consisting of Prof. Biswajit Nag, Prof. Nitin Seth and Prof. Pooja Lakhanpal from the IIFT.

The High Commissioner of India to Ghana, His Excellency Mr K. Jeeva Sagar, said his country believed in sharing knowledge and learning from the experiences of other countries.

He was confident the programme would result in better understanding of the business climate and opportunities in the two countries.
