Kenstep urges players to maintain fitness

Mr Kenneth Kwame Asare, a football enthusiast, has advised Ghanaian footballers to maintain their fitness and discipline through effective training in the absence of the domestic league.

He said once competitive football was on break due to the coronavirus pandemic, there was the temptation for individual players to relax now that clubs were on break.

However, Mr Asare, aka Kenstep, said that could affect the performance of players should the league resume anytime soon.

According to the CEO of Kenstep Microfinance Limited and Alpha Lotto, since good conditioning ensures effective results, it was incumbent on the players to maintain their training discipline while at home.

GFA decision day

Speaking to the Daily Graphic yesterday, Kenstep noted that while the entire nation waited for the Ghana Football Association (GFA) decision on the Ghana league on Tuesday, players still needed to follow their respective training regimen prescribed by their coaches in order not to lose their fitness.

He explained that physical exercise was beneficial to the success of players, whether the league was cancelled or not.

“On the other hand, if the league continues it will be a blessing in disguise since they (players) will still be in shape due to their constant training,” he stated.

He said on a broader scale, good preparation by the players would improve upon their performance in the league and eventually increase the excitement of the competition to attract potential sponsors.

Mr Asare, a former footballer himself, was a regular feature for Kotobabi Monday Stars during the weekly recreational games at the Kotobabi Monday Stars before the COVID-19 break.

He played alongside former Black Stars skipper, Stephen Appiah, Laryea Kingston, Sulley Muntari, and many other foreign-based and local stars.
