Transparency, accountability will win public trust- Graphic MD to GFA

The Managing Director of Graphic Communications Group Limited (GCGL), Mr Ato Afful, has advised the leadership of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to make transparency and accountability an essential tool in its administration in order to regain the lost public trust.

Addressing a delegation of the GFA during an official visit to the company’s offices yesterday, Mr Afful said public interest and support for football in the country could only be restored when GFA was diligent and transparent in its operations.

He assured the association of the company’s readiness to support them to achieve success in their four-year mandate.

The GFA delegation included its President, Mr Kurt Okraku; Vice-President, Mark Addo; Executive Council member, Toni Aubynn, and Vision FC owner Michael Osekre.

The visit was to afford the football association the opportunity to formally introduce the new administration to the GCGL, a key partner.

Football

According to Mr Afful, football remained the passion of the nation and that ‘everyone wants it to grow, especially, knowing where the GFA has been over the past years. One thing that I expect from your administration is transparency and accountability, which to me is an essential tool to make you successful.’

The MD further urged the new GFA administration to offer compelling products which would help clubs secure sponsorship packages.

The Director of Marketing of the company, Mr Franklin Sowa, appealed to GFA to offer digital content to the company in its quest to take over the online space.

He pledged the company’s readiness to help drive the agenda of football in the country through effective collaborations.

Information flow

The Editor of the Daily Graphic, Mr Kobby Asmah, advised the GFA to share timely information on their operations to avoid speculations, which he said could affect the association’s engagement with the public.

For his part, the acting Editor of Graphic Sports, Maurice Quansah, asked Mr Okraku to stick to his campaign promises to help achieve his outmost target of rebranding the GFA.

“You have a mandate to build an association, so I urge you to continue on the tangent that you have started,” he said.

Agenda

Mr Okraku gave assurance that he was ready to rewrite the history of football administration in the country by making products of the association attractive to consumers.

He said as part of measures to ensure his agenda, GFA had decided to engage corporate organisations for support and said that Graphic, being the leaders in the media industry could be of immense support to the association.

“It is in our interest to make football great again. As part of this pledge, we are engaging corporate organisations for support and Graphic can never be left out. We want to thank you for your support over all these years,” Mr Okraku added.
